Slovenian tenor Ambroz Bajec-Lapajne was diagnosed with an aggressive type of brain tumour and had an operation last year at a Dutch clinic. During the operation, Ambroz was asked to sing a song, in order to monitor his brain activity. His choice was ‘Gute Nacht’ (Good Night), a piece from Austrian composer Franz Peter Schubert. He managed to sing the full song, although there was a moment, when he stopped singing, as he could not control his tongue. Over a year has passed since the surgery, and the singer has fully recovered and continues his professional career.
